Well, and forgive me for not responding in French but you would not want me to try, it sort of stands to reason.
If there is going to be a prior notion of the possibility of coming to agreement with the GAC on the Thursday before the San Francisco meeting ends, the Board can't very well make a decision in one night. And, given the possibility that they actually make some substantive concessions (which I pray they don't), how can the Board initiate the program without give us a chance for wailing and gnashing of teeth over our bitter disappointment and great chagrin. Some would ask, but why wait for Jordan to make the decision. Well first, who really believes we are still going to Jordan in this political climate? But more relevantly, what's 3 months in the geologic time frames that ICANN works in? One things we can be grateful for. We used to delay 9 months at a time, now the delays are only 3 months long. It is getting better.
It seems December is more likely.
Is there speculation about who the next Chair will be, and what their take is likely to be on the programme? A new chair could call for a wholesale review or mothball the programme, for example.
I think there's little doubt who the next Chairman of the ICANN Board will be
All things being equal, you are probably right about the next chair and who there is little doubt about.
And JM might be surprised to find how little power a new Chair, of the Board or any other ICANN group, has to completely overhaul the work of the Board, or of any other ICANN group. |
